Flashback Friday: Red, White and Blue for Memorial Day.

Happy Friday an Happy Memorial Day 2018, you all! It is officially the start of Summer as Memorial Weekend symbolizes just that. =) Today, I am taking a walk down Red+White+Blue Fashion lane and recapping some of my favorite All AMERICANA, Patriotic Looks I have worn over the last 3 years (and blogged them too). These cute outfits would all be adorable to wear for Memorial Day weekend, around 4th of July or even later on for Labor Day. But, as a matter of fact, red+white+blue is great to wear all Summer long because not only does this trio of colors symbolizes America and our freedom but it is also a great Summer combination and totally nautical!

I have had this Dark Red Poplin Sleeveless Shirtdress by Banana Republic for years and wore it a few times the years I lived in Albania. Well this casual yet put-together Red Shirtdress paired with Classic White Converse Sneakers and some Blue Accessories (like my Blue Glass Necklace + Blue+Red Crossbody Bag) equals totally Americana Style. So chic, simple and put-together for a casual OFF Summer Day. Total mom babe look!

In this post I did a matchy Mommy+Me post featuring my sweet Vivian and we both wore Oversized Red Gingham Linen pieces by Old Navy. My sweet girl has grown up so much since 2 Summers ago. How time flew! I just added Simple Navy Flip Flops and my romper was already Red+White so I was good to go. Love Vivian's Mixed Prints though.

This is from 3 Summers ago. It has a twist to it because it is mostly Navy and White with some green (on my Colorblocked Peplum Tank). The Green from the tank brings out all the green of the Floppy Hat. To stay patriotic I wore my Canvas American Flag Slip-On Sneakers. And I added more red via my Statement Stone Necklace.

This outfit was worn on a week I collaborated with my friend DEBBIE who is the queen of Bohemian Style. During this Spring Bohemian week this Soft Shorts Embroidered Blue Romper is one of the pieces I wore. I made it more Americana with my Blue Denim Vest. You can do a version of this outfit and wear some Red Earrings or Red Sandals or a Red Crossbody Bag.

One of my most favorite looks I wore last Summer. So simple yet a little girly. Totally mom-friendly and also appropriate for a casual office. That white top with the Blue+Red Embroidery design is so pretty. I can see it paired with a white pencil skirt, white skinny jeans, red skirt or red pants too. And of course it would look great with a classic denim skirt or blue jeans.

How pretty is this Navy+Turquoise Silky Jumpsuit. I have worn it many times. For a twist I paired it with a Hot Pink Cardigan matched by a Hot Pink Beaded Necklace and a Hot Pink Skinny Belt. For Memorial Day you can swap all the hot pink for red. The way I dressed this up, would be perfect for work. Also for a dinner date.

A Eed+White Striped Dress with a Blue Denim Jacket and Sneakers. A great idea for a put-together Athleisure Look but also totally Americana. Very simple but not short on style.

Love that this dress has blue, white and red on it already. The bubble hem, short hemline and plunging neckline make it great for a fun Summer date night, especially on the patio of a fancy restaurant. If that's where you would wear it, dress it up like I did with Pumps and a Ruffled-Trim Red Clutch. This happens to be one of my favorite outfits in this flashback post, too.

There is something so soft, breezy and ethereal about a white maxi dress, especially if it is in cotton, linen or gauze. This one I wore two Summers ago looked great with the Red Accessories and for some blue I went with Turquoise Jewelry.

This would make a great work look. Yes, those white jeans but there is no distress so they can be worn to work. They look great with the Blue Pumps and Blue Oversized Gingham Tank. I added a Navy Clutch and layered two Fun Necklaces, too. An outfit like this can be worn every Summer and it will always look fresh!

How pretty is this Red Eyelet and Swiss Dot Peplum Top?! I love it with my White+Navy Geo-Print Tulip Pencil Skirt for work. I like how I went for Camel Shoes instead of let's say white, red, navy or nude. Another one of my favorite outfits for sure.

This is a mostly all-white outfit featuring my White Distressed Skinny Jeans and this Oversized Bell-Sleeve Navy Striped Top with the fun crocheted hemline. Love it with my Favorite (Neutral) Floppy Hat for the Summer. And for a pop of red I chose my Red Thong Laceup Sandals.

This Little White Dress is one of my favorites. The tiers are so pretty. I decided to add a Blue Belt and Red D'Orsay Flats to it. I like that this outfit can be both casual and dressy at once. If your work environment is business casual, you could totally wear it!

Every woman should own a few Jersey/Cotton-Blend Striped Dresses. This is probably my Favorite Casual Striped Dress. It is perfectly nautical and the midi length makes it work-friendly, so you can dress it up or down or just in between, like I did here. With my Fun Rosette Peep-Toe Wedges, I ended up wearing this outfit to work.

Thursday Moda #116: Siesta Vibes and Smiles.

Smiles make us all prettier. They beautify our faces and our days. They beautify our lives. A smile is like an apostrophe, because it is that smile that reminds us that life goes on no matter what happens, that there is goodness, bright lights and positivity in this world and in our lives despite the bad things that happen to us and the not-so-kind people we may have encountered in our lives, despite the negative events, accidents, incidents or challenges we have faced and continue facing. Smiles are beautiful. They bring out our inner beauty. They bring out our souls. They bring out our personalities. Smiles are like butterflies, they grimace thru and they tell the world that we are smiling today! Smiles - we fake them sometimes. Heck, if you work with customers or clients, you fake at least one smile a day, but you now what that is OK. Sometimes you have to fake a smile to push through the bad things that are surrounding your life. A fake smile is better than no smile at all, so smile at the world. Smile at yourself and for yourself. Smile at those pesky and peculiar customers and clients, even if they are driving you totally crazy! Smile at the stranger who gave you a stinky eye today. Smile at the person who might have judged you today. Smile at the person who might have not said the nicest thing or done the right thing. Smile at the ones who make you happy daily. Smile at your children, your spouses, your partners, your parents, your siblings. Smile back at the stranger who smiled at you. Smile at the one who told you "Good Morning" even if they didn't know who you were. Smile at the person who brewed coffee for you and your co-workers, first thing in the morning. Smile at a song you listened on the radio as you drove through horrible traffic. Smile at a beautiful memory you may have thought of. Smile at a picture who brought you some beautiful memories. Smile, just smile!

A smile is beautiful. And kind. And human. And heartfelt (usually). And fun. And bright. And cheerful. And human-like. And pretty, so pretty. I have been told I have a pretty smile - a reminder I keep getting lately, from both people I know and people I don't know, both in real life and virtually. Today I decided to smile, just like I did on May 1st when these photos were taken. In real life today, I smiled a few times too. And trust me when I tell you that a smile has been missing from my face for days, but you know what, a smile was ON MY FACE today. More than once. Not fake. True, real, genuine, kind, wrinkle-ful smiles! Today I smiled! Yesterday I smiled! And you know what it felt great!

Now, on to the outfit, I am sure you can 'spot' the Siesta Vibes in it, no?! That is not just a plain little white tee. The bell-sleeves are in a bright yellow eyelet pattern. I paired it with a Bold 3-Stranded Red Statement Necklace w/ Large Multi-Faceted Beads and some Bright, Gold-Tone Mirrored Sunglasses. I tucked the top inside my Semi-Dressy, Navy Geo-Print Silky Joggers and more 'Siesta Vibes' come from the Pearl-Encrusted Slide Sandals. I wore this outfit for a fun coffee date and a walk downtown Milford (one of the cutest towns in Michigan) with my cousin who is also a very close friend of mine. I brought little Vivian with me too, since the cafe we sat at is very much kid-friendly with a little indoor play+learn area for kids. It was May 1st and it was the first very hot day of Spring, the temperatures went as high as mid 80s. But my cotton tee and silky pants definitely kept me cool. I also happen to love white with navy for the Summer. I notice that with the addition of the red necklace this outfit would be perfect to re-wear for Memorial Day too. So there, I killed two birds with one stone in today's post lol. How do you like today's fun and girly look?!

Last week I just added my Thursday Moda linkup to my latest poetry "The Driver" which you happened to like a lot. I haven't been making my rounds with comments and blog-hopping lately so the linkup was a little light, but there were still several cute outfits linked. The 4 favorites below are all such pretty and fresh looks. All mom-friendly, too. =)

Jacqui is in 'Bright Floral' paired with yellow, white and cobalt. Love her skirt and little clutch.
Joi also joins the pretty, bright and refreshing White+Yellow parade. 'The Landing Stripe' on her trousers adds elegance to the entire outfit!
Emma's Midi Dress has the most unique mixture of Safari prints. She celebrated 'An Anniversary Lunch' in it and looked so modern, colorful and gorgeous at the same time.
Ruth is one fun mom pairing a chic grey sheath with an ivory pussybow blouse underneath it. Her 'Anklets for Work' make this monochromatic work look - modern and different.
